Here is the latest short term weather forecast.
- Major storm for the East this weekend. Snow for the Appalachians, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. Heavy rain and chance for severe thunderstorms for the Southeast.
- Unusually cold temperatures for Texas, the Southern Plains and the East this weekend but temperatures rebound to near normal by early next week.
- Big warmup for the Central and Eastern U.S. starting Wednesday March 16th.
Outlook for Friday – Sunday 11-13 March:
— Friday sees low pressure develop over the Southern Plains.
— Rain forms over eastern TX and snow extends north and eastward into the Ohio Valley.
— On Saturday, the storm intensifies.
— Heavy rain and perhaps some severe weather over the Southeast.
— Heavy wet snow along the Appalachians / I-81 and into the Northeast.
— This will be a major snowstorm for upstate NY and interior New England.
— Sunday will see rain and snow moving into the Pacific Northwest.
— Also on Sunday, a weak clipper system will brings some rain and snow to PA and NY.
Outlook for Monday – Wednesday 14-16 March:
— On Monday, more rain for WA, northern ID and northwest MT. Also rain for coastal CA north of San Francisco and for coastal OR.
— The next low pressure system develops on Monday over the lower Mississippi Valley.
— Rain continues on the West Coast on Tuesday, from San Francisco northwards. Snow levels will be high.
— Rain spreads through the Southeast and into the Mid-South and Midwest.
— On Wednesday, the rain and snow move off the East Coast.
— A mix of rain and snow for the northern and central Rockies.
