- Winter is not quite done with the west; expect some high elevation snows in the Northern Rockies this Memorial Day weekend.
- Strong, persistent winds return to much of the west Friday through Tuesday.
- A warm, generally dry Sunday and Memorial Day for the central Plains Midwest, Mid-Atlantic states and Northeast.

Significant weather to watch out for:
Thursday :
— Rain, some heavy, over the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys
— Warm in the Southwest and Rockies; cooler than normal over the Mississippi Valley.
Friday:
— Rain for the Northeast
— Rain for the Pacific Northwest
— Moderate to strong afternoon winds for the Great Basin, Four-Corners Region, and Wyoming
— Warm for the Southwest and Northern Plains; cooler than normal from the Midwest southward to the Gulf Coast.
Saturday:
— An unsettled day in the Northeast
— Rain for the Pacific Northwest; some high elevation snows in the Northern Rockies.
— Stronger winds expand to the interior of California, the Great Basin, Four-Corners Region, Wyoming, and the Central Rockies.
Sunday:
— Rain for the Northern Plains.
— Rain/snow mix over the Northern Rockies.
— Rain for the Pacific Northwest
— Strong winds over the interior southern California deserts and Four-Corners Region.
— Sunday and Monday will be abnormally cold over the West Coast, Great Basin, Inter-mountain West, Northern and Central Rockies and the Northern Plains.
Monday (Memorial Day):
— More rain and high elevation snow in the Pacific Northwest, Great Basin and Northern Rockies.
— High winds over Interior southern California, the Four-Corners Region, western High Plains. Winds may gust 45-60 mph.
— A warmer than average Memorial Day for the Central Plains, Upper Midwest and Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast.
Tuesday:
— Rain over the Northern Plains.
— Rain/snow mix for the Northern Rockies.
— Strong winds over the Northern & Central Plains.
