These are the most significant weather impacts to RV travel over the next two to three days. I do not list every area of rain, showers, or breezy winds. Please check out the animations and graphics for a good depiction of the weather along your route.
Pacific:
— Southern CA western Imperial Valley: Wind Advisory this afternoon through early Friday morning. Wind gusts to 50 mph. I-8 impacted.
Mountain:
— Southeast MT: Flood Watch this afternoon through Friday evening. Additional heavy thunderstorms with intense rainfall may occur over already saturated ground. I-90, I-94 potentially impacted.
— Much of southern, central and eastern MT east of the Rockies: Scattered thunderstorms, some producing severe hail and damaging wind gusts, are possible this afternoon and evening. I-15, I-90, I-94 potentially impacted.
— Central, south-central and southeast CO; eastern NM: Scattered thunderstorms, some producing severe hail and damaging wind gusts, are possible this afternoon and evening. I-25, I-40, I-70 potentially impacted.
— Central and eastern MT and adjacent far-western ND; eastern WY and far-western SD; far-western NE; eastern CO and far-western KS; eastern NM: Severe thunderstorms are possible Friday afternoon and evening. Highest severe thunderstorm coverage is expected over southeast MT and eastern NM. A tornado or two possible over eastern NM. Large hail is a threat for I-40. I-25, I-40, I-70, I-76, I-80, I-90, I-94 potentially impacted.
— East-central AZ; southwest and west-central NM: Strong Winds Friday afternoon. Gusts 30-40 mph. I-10, I-40 impacted.
— Eastern MT and adjacent far-western ND; eastern WY and far-western SD; far-western NE; eastern CO and far-western KS; eastern NM: Isolated severe thunderstorms possible Saturday afternoon and evening. I-25, I-40, I-70, I-76, I-80, I-90, I-94 potentially impacted.
Central:
— Southwest KS; OK and TX Panhandles; much of western TX: Scattered thunderstorms, some producing severe hail and damaging wind gusts, are possible this afternoon and evening. I-10, I-20, I-27, I-40 potentially impacted.
— Western OK and TX Panhandles; far-west and southwest TX: Severe thunderstorms are possible Friday afternoon and evening. A tornado or two possible over far-western TX including the I-10/I-20 split. Large hail is possible over I-40. I-10, I-20, I-27, I-40 potentially impacted.
— Western OK and TX Panhandles; far-west and southwest TX: Isolated severe thunderstorms possible Saturday afternoon and evening. I-10, I-20, I-27, I-40 potentially impacted.
— Portion of northwest MS: Flash Flood Watch through mid-June for potential failure of Arkabutla Dam on the Coldwater River. I-55 potentially impacted.
Eastern:
— Much of NC and SC: Slight risk of flash flooding Saturday and Saturday night. Strong coastal low pressure system will bring 3-4 inches of rainfall to some locations. I-20, I-26, I-40, I-74, I-77, I-85, I-95 potentially impacted.
— Coastal NC and coastal SC: Strong winds along the immediate coast late this evening through Saturday morning. Strongest winds Friday afternoon through Friday night. Wind gusts 30-40 mph this evening increasing to 35-50 mph along the coast by Friday evening. I-40, US-17, US-64, US-70 impacted.
