  • Pockets of severe thunderstorms will pop up over the Pacific Northwest, the Southwest, the Texas Rio Grande Valley, and the Southeast this afternoon and evening.
  • Wildfire smoke continues to impact the Inter-mountain West, Northern Rockies, and western Plains.
  • Rainy and windy tonight over most of New England.

These are the most significant weather impacts to RV travel over the next two to three days. I do not list every area of rain, showers, or breezy winds. Please check out the animations and graphics for a good depiction of the weather along your route.

I have changed out smoke forecasting models to one that captures these Canadian fires – so you can now see the latest 2-day smoke forecast for your area in the graphics section.

Pacific:

Central WA; central OR: Strong, and some isolated severe, thunderstorms possible this afternoon and evening. Strong wind gusts and hail are the primary threats. I-82, I-84, I-90, US-97, US-395 potentially impacted.

Eastern WA; eastern OR: Isolated severe thunderstorms possible Sunday afternoon and evening. Strong wind gusts and hail are the primary threats. I-84, I-90 potentially impacted.

— Central WA; northern OR along the Columbia Gorge: Strong winds late Sunday evening and night. Wind gusts 30-40 mph. I-84, I-90 impacted.

— Portions of east-central CA and western NV, including the Tahoe and Mono County areas: Flood watches for snowmelt. I-80, US-50 potentially impacted.

Mountain:

Central and northern ID; northwest MT: Isolated severe thunderstorms possible Sunday afternoon and evening. Strong wind gusts and hail are the primary threats. I-90 potentially impacted.

— Portions of southeast ID: Flood Advisories due to rain and snowmelt. I-15 potentially impacted.

— Much of MT east of I-15 and north of I-90: Heavy wildfire smoke returns tonight and continues through Sunday. I-15, I-90, I-94 impacted.

— Northeast WY: Moderate to heavy wildfire smoke Sunday afternoon and Sunday night. I-25, I-90 impacted.

Southeast AZ; southwest NM: Strong, and some isolated severe, thunderstorms possible this afternoon and evening. Strong wind gusts and hail are the primary threats. I-10, I-19, I-25 potentially impacted.

Central:

South TX Lower Rio Grande Valley: Isolated severe thunderstorms possible late this afternoon and evening. Damaging wind gusts and hail are the primary threats. I-2, I-35, I-69 potentially impacted.

Central and eastern LA; central and southern MS; most of AL: Isolated severe thunderstorms possible this afternoon and evening. Damaging wind gusts and hail are the primary threats. Chance of an isolated tornado over central and northern AL. I-10, I-12, I-20, I-22, I-49, I-55, I-59, I-65 potentially impacted.

— Portion of northwest MS: Flash Flood Watch through mid-June for potential failure of Arkabutla Dam on the Coldwater River. I-55 potentially impacted.

Eastern:

Western and central GA; FL Panhandle: Isolated severe thunderstorms possible this afternoon and evening. Damaging wind gusts and hail are the primary threats. I-10, I-16, I-20, I-75, I-85 potentially impacted.

— Most of New England: Windy and heavy rain starting late this afternoon and continuing through early Sunday morning. Wind gusts to 30 mph. 1-3 inches of rain in many locations. I-84, I-89, I-90, I-91, I-93, I-95, Mass Pike impacted.
