Three things to know about Travel & RV Weather Saturday 8 April


  • Heavy rains, breezy and cold today over much of the Southeast.
    • Afternoon temperatures will feel like upper 30’s.
  • Flooding from snowmelt will be an issue for the West, and specifically much of central and northeast Nevada, through early next week.
  • Heavy rains and strong winds for the Pacific Northwest on Sunday.

Pacific:

— Rain today for much of WA, OR and northern CA: I-5, I-82, I-84, I-90 impacted.

CA northern and central Sierra Nevada mountains: Winter Weather Advisory through this afternoon. 2-8 inches snow and wind gusts to 40 mph. I-80, US-50 impacted.

Central, east-central and northeast NV: Flood Watches Saturday through Tuesday for flooding due to rapid snowmelt caused by warming temperatures. I-80, US-6, US-50, US-93 potentially impacted.

Mountain:

— Eastern and southeast CO; northeast NM: Gusty winds this afternoon and evening. Wind gusts to 35 mph. I-25, I-70 impacted.

Central:

Central and northeast WI: Snow tonight and Saturday morning. 1-3 inches probable. I-41, I-43, US-8, US-141 impacted.

— Northwest TX Panhandle; OK Panhandle; western and northern KS; central and eastern NE: Wind gusts this afternoon 30-35 mph. I-70, I-80 impacted.

Eastern TX; much of western, central and southern LA and adjacent coastal MS: Flood Watches through Saturday. An additional 1-3 inches of rain are possible. I-10, I-12 ,I-20, I-49, I-55, I-59 potentially impacted.

South-central and southeast LA; southern MS and adjacent southeast coastal AL: Isolated severe thunderstorms possible today. Winds gusts and hail are the primary threats. I-10, I-12, I-49, I-55, I-59, I-65 potentially impacted.

— Western FL Panhandle and adjacent southern AL: Dense Fog Advisory this morning. I-10, I-65 impacted.

Eastern:

— Western ME: Wind Advisory today. Gusts to 50 mph. US-201 impacted.

— NY lower Hudson Valley and Long Island; MA (except Cape Cod); RI; CT: Strong winds with gusts to 40 mph this afternoon and evening. I-84, I-87, I-88, I-90, I-91, I-93, I-95, Mass Pike, NY Thruway impacted.

— Northeast FL and adjacent southeast GA: Dense Fog Advisory through mid-morning. I-10, I-75, I-95 impacted.
