Widely scattered severe thunderstorms and heavy rains capable of large hail, severe gusts, and flash flooding are possible through the weekend over portions of the southern High Plains. Unseasonably cool daytime temperatures across portions of the Ohio Valley into the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic. Excessive heat likely staring Sunday over interior northern CA.

— Central and Northern CA interior valleys: Excessive Heat Warnings Sunday afternoon through Tuesday. Highs upper 90’s to 108 deg F. Heat will likely spread both southwards to the San Joaquin Valley and northwards to southeast OR on Monday. I-5 impacted.

— East-central and southeast CO, eastern NM, western Panhandles of both OK and TX: Slight chance of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Large hail and severe winds are the primary threats. I-25, I-40, I-70 potentially impacted.

— East-central and southeast NM, western TX: Slight risk of severe thunderstorms Sunday afternoon and evening. Large hail and severe winds are the primary threats. I-10, I-20, I-27, I-40 potentially impacted.
