Grand Teton Forecast Saturday – Sunday August 21-22

One more storm – then summer resumes…

Final batch of rain mixed with snow and embedded thunderstorms for the high mountains Saturday afternoon, ending Sunday morning. Saturday night will be challenging camping in the high backcountry sites.

Saturday: Sunny in the morning, then increasing clouds with showers and isolated thunderstorms developing early afternoon and continuing through the night. Snow levels at night down to 9000 feet. Southwest winds gusting 22-26 mph in the afternoon. Highs in the mid to upper 60’s.

Sunday: Cloudy, with showers and drizzle early morning. Precipitation ending by mid-morning. Becoming partly sunny after lunchtime. West winds gusting 20-25 mph in the afternoon. Highs in the mid to upper 60’s.

Smoke forecast: The smoke will wax and wane in intensity, driven by the storm systems and local rains. Heaviest smoke for the next couple of days over the Tetons will be Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning.

Extended Outlook:

Monday: Partly to mostly sunny. Chance of afternoon showers. Highs in the mid 70’s.

Tuesday – Friday: Partly to mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 70’s.

Outlook through early September: Drier than normal with temperatures at or slightly above normal.
